Fronting directly onto Diaz Beach, De Valle 22 puts one of Mossel Bay's most sheltered stretches of sand essentially at the door. The apartment runs across three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a living room that opens onto a balcony carrying uninterrupted sea views. An outdoor swimming pool sits within the garden, and a terrace with a fireplace extends the living space outside — useful on cooler evenings when the fynbos smell comes in off the coast.

De Bakke Beach and the calmer waters near Hartenbos are both within a few kilometres for days when a change of scene is wanted. Back at the apartment, free WiFi, flat-screen TV, and covered parking keep the practicalities covered. It works well as a base for exploring the broader Garden Route, with George and the Outeniqua Pass roughly an hour's drive west, but the position on Diaz Beach means there's also a reasonable case for going nowhere at all.
