About George
George is a city in the Western Cape of South Africa, around the south side of the magnificent Outeniqua Mountains, with roughly 157,400 residents.
George lies on the coastline around 300 km east of Cape Town on the well known Garden Route. George is the financial capital of the Garden Route. Locally, landmarks such as the broad beaches of Herolds Bay, Victoria Bay and Wilderness, the ostrich town of Oudtshoorn and Knysna featuring a wonderful lagoon, have been part of the Garden Route National Park since March 2009 .
The indigenous forests with spectacular old yellowwood trees as well as other tree varieties, the attractive fynbos with lots of varieties of proteas , ericas and heaths and a large variety of fern species captivate travellers and holidaymakers who like the great outdoors and scenery.
