About Wilderness
Wilderness is a prominent holiday getaway town along the N2 national highway on the Garden Routein South Africa, about Fifteen km east of George and 450 km east of Cape Town. Its pristine beach with a total length of eight kilometers plus the warm waters of the Indian Ocean make Wilderness, amongst other things, a spot for water sports fanatics.
The N2 national road separates Wilderness in two – while a small amount of homes and hotels have been built in a dune region nearby the beach, the business district and the remaining portion of the town are located along the highway and lagoon. The lagoon’s mountainous land part possesses a rich vegetation within its forest areas, such as ericas, ferns, milkwood trees, orchids and proteas. The freshwater of mountain rivers as well as the Indian Ocean’s seawater also produce a ideal home for water wildlife, which include dolphins.
