About Wilderness

Wilderness is a well-liked holiday location along the N2 national highway on the Garden Route in South Africa, about 15 km east of George and 450 km east of Cape Town. Its pristine sand beach with a overall length of eight kilometers as well as the warm waters of the Indian Ocean help to make this fine holiday destination, among other things, a spot for aquatic sports fanatics.

The N2 divides Wilderness in two – while a few houses and motels have been constructed in a dune area close to the beach, the business district and the remaining portion of the town can be found along the freeway and lagoon. The lagoon’s mountainous land side boasts a rich vegetation in its woodland areas, such as ericas, ferns, milkwood trees, orchids and proteas. The fresh water of mountain rivers as well as the Indian Ocean’s seawater also create a appropriate habitat for water animals, including dolphins.

The 2 612 hectare National Wilderness Park is located east of the town and expands 28 kilometers along side sea. All 230 animal species are actually registered here, such as 79 of South Africa’s 95 waterfowl species. Book self catering accommodation in Wilderness with Garden Route Stays!
