About Wilderness

Wilderness is a prominent holiday village along the N2 national highway on the Garden Route in the Western Cape, South Africa, about Fifteen km east of George and 450 km east of Cape Town. Its white sand beach with a total length of eight kilometers and also the warm waters of the Indian Ocean make this fine holiday destination, among other things, a spot for aquatic sports lovers.

The N2 national road separates Wilderness in two – while a small amount of residences and lodges have been erected in a dune section near the beach, the business region and the remaining town are situated over the highway and lagoon. The lagoon’s mountainous land section boasts a rich vegetation in its forest areas, like ericas, ferns, milkwood trees, orchids and proteas. The freshwater of mountain rivers as well as the Indian Ocean’s seawater also result in a suited ecosystem for water wildlife, such as dolphins.

The 2 612 hectare National Wilderness Park is positioned east of the town and runs 28 kms along side sea. All 230 animal species happen to be listed here, such as 79 of South Africa’s 95 waterfowl species. Book affordable accommodation in Wilderness with Garden Route Stays!
