About Wilderness

Wilderness is a renowned holiday getaway village along the N2 on the Garden Route in South Africa, about 15 km east of George and 450 km east of Cape Town’s location. Its white sand beach with an overall length of eight km as well as the warm waters of the Indian Ocean help make Wilderness, among other things, a destination for water sports lovers.

The N2 breaks Wilderness in two – while a small number of houses and motels have been built in a dune region near the seaside, the business region and the rest of the town are situated over the highway and lagoon. The lagoon’s mountainous land part features abundant flora within its forest areas, including ericas, ferns, milkwood trees, orchids and proteas. The freshwater of mountain rivers and the Indian Ocean’s seawater also generate a suitable home for water mammals, including dolphins.

The 2 612 hectare National Wilderness Park is situated east of the town and stretches 28 kilometres along the sea. All 230 animal species are actually listed here, such as 79 of South Africa’s 95 waterfowl species. Book places to stay in Wilderness with Garden Route Stays!
