About Wilderness
Wilderness is a popular holiday getaway location along the N2 on the Garden Route in the Western Cape, South Africa, about 15 km east of George and 450 km east of Cape Town’s location. Its pristine beach with an overall length of eight km and also the warm waters of the Indian Ocean help to make this fine holiday destination, amongst other things, a spot for water sports lovers.
The N2 national road separates Wilderness in two. While a few residences and motels have been constructed in a dune region nearby the seaside, the business section and the remaining town can be found along the freeway and lagoon. The lagoon’s mountainous land side possesses rich vegetation in its forest areas, like ericas, ferns, milkwood trees, orchids and proteas. The freshwater of mountain rivers and the Indian Ocean’s seawater also generate an ideal ecosystem for water animals, including dolphins.
The 2 612 hectare National Wilderness Park is positioned east of the town and extends 28 km along the sea. Just about all 230 animal species are actually registered here, such as 79 of South Africa’s 95 waterfowl species. Book romantic places to stay in Wilderness with Garden Route Stays!
