About George
George is a city in the Western Cape of South Africa, around the south side of the dazzling Outeniqua Mountains, with about 157,400 inhabitants.
George is situated the coastline about 300 km east of Cape Town on the widely known Garden Route. George is the economic capital of the Garden Route. Nearby, attractions for instance the great beaches of Herolds Bay, Victoria Bay and Wilderness, the ostrich town of Oudtshoorn and Knysna featuring its amazing lagoon, have been part of the Garden Route National Park since March 2009 .
The local forests with beautiful old yellowwood trees and also other tree varieties, the attractive fynbos with dozens of species of proteas , ericas and heaths and a large number of fern varieties draw in travellers and holidaymakers who like nature and scenery.
