About Wilderness
Wilderness is a well-known getaway location along the N2 national highway on the Garden Routein the Western Cape, South Africa, about Fifteen km east of George and 450 km east of Cape Town. Its pristine beach with a overall length of eight kilometers and also the warm waters of the Indian Ocean help to make this fine holiday destination, among other things, a place to go for water sports fanatics.
The N2 national road breaks Wilderness in two – while only a few houses and motels have been erected in a dune section nearby the beach, the business section and the remaining town can be found over the freeway and lagoon. The lagoon’s mountainous land side features a rich vegetation within its woodland areas, including ericas, ferns, milkwood trees, orchids and proteas. The fresh water of mountain rivers along with the Indian Ocean’s seawater also produce a suited habitat for marine wildlife, including dolphins.
The 2 612 hectare National Wilderness Park is situated east of the town and stretches 28 kilometers along side sea. Just about all 230 animal species have been listed here, which include 79 of South Africa’s 95 waterfowl species. Book pet friendly guest houses in Wilderness with Garden Route Stays!
