The museumself was created several generations later (in fact, it wasn't until 1967) and is mostly devoted to the wood industry, which served as the financial basis for this Garden Route village and many of those that are located in the surrounding area.

Among the several steam locomotives on display at George, South Africa's Outeniqua Transport Museum, you'll find the narrow gauge Emil Kessler, the spectacular GL Garrett, and a variety of carriages, including a carriage from the Royal Train of 1947 and Paul Kruger's coach as well as private saloons.
