About Wilderness

Wilderness is a well-known getaway town along the N2 on the Garden Route in South Africa, about Fifteen km east of George and 450 km east of Cape Town’s location. Its pristine beach with a overall length of eight kilometers and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean make this fine holiday destination, amongst other things, a destination for water sports fanatics.

The N2 splits Wilderness in two – while a small number of houses and lodges have been built in a dune area close to the seaside, the business region and the remaining portion of the town can be found along the freeway and lagoon. The lagoon’s mountainous land side features a abundant vegetation in its woodland areas, including ericas, ferns, milkwood trees, orchids and proteas. The freshwater of mountain rivers and also the Indian Ocean’s seawater also produce a appropriate ecosystem for water mammals, including dolphins.

The 2 612 hectare National Wilderness Park is situated east of the town and runs 28 kms along side sea. Just about all 230 animal species have been registered here, like 79 of South Africa’s 95 waterfowl species. Book luxury accommodation in Wilderness with Garden Route Stays!
