About Wilderness

Wilderness is a popular holiday location along the N2 national highway on the Garden Route in South Africa, about Fifteen km east of George and 450 km east of Cape Town. Its white sand beach with a overall length of eight kilometers and also the warm waters of the Indian Ocean help to make Wilderness, amongst other things, a destination for aquatic sports fanatics.

The N2 breaks Wilderness in two – while a small number of homes and motels have been built in a dune section near to the beach, the business district and the remaining town are located along the motorway and lagoon. The lagoon’s mountainous land side features a rich vegetation within its woodland areas, which include ericas, ferns, milkwood trees, orchids and proteas. The fresh water of mountain rivers as well as the Indian Ocean’s sea water also create a ideal environment for marine mammals, which include dolphins.

The 2 612 hectare National Wilderness Park is positioned east of the town and expands 28 kilometers along side sea. Just about all 230 animal species happen to be listed here, which include 79 of South Africa’s 95 waterfowl species. Book places to stay in Wilderness with Garden Route Stays!
