About Wilderness
Wilderness is a popular holiday village along the N2 national highway on the Garden Route in South Africa, about 15 km east of George and 450 km east of Cape Town’s location. Its pristine beach with an overall length of eight km along with the warm waters of the Indian Ocean makes this fine holiday destination, among other things, a spot for water sports fanatics.
The N2 national road separates Wilderness in two. While a small number of houses and motels have been built in a dune vicinity near the beach, the business district and the rest of the town are situated over the freeway and lagoon. The lagoon’s mountainous land section boasts rich vegetation within its woodland areas, such as ericas, ferns, milkwood trees, orchids and proteas. The freshwater of mountain rivers and the Indian Ocean’s seawater also establishes an ideal environment for marine creatures, including dolphins.
