The Harkerville Coastal Hiking Trails offer visitors the chance to experience some of the best that the Cape biodiversity has to offer. The three colour-coded routes vary in difficulty, but all offer stunning views of the coast and ocean. The Yellow Route is the easiest of the three, and it remains open even during rainy weather. The Blue Route heads through thick forest before emerging at Beukespad, a forest path with great views of the coastline.
The return journey passes huge coastal redwoods, making it a great option for those looking for an easier hike with some incredible scenery. Finally, the Green Route is a moderately difficult 14 km hike that takes in the Grooteiland path and Waterpad (with a swimming hole) before heading along the Harkerville coastline path (an optional extra).
The return journey is along Perdekoppad, a coastal forest path that is all single track, making it a challenging but rewarding hike. Whichever route you choose, you’re sure to have an enjoyable day out on the Harkerville Coastal Hiking Trails.
