About Wilderness
Wilderness is a renowned holiday village along the N2 on the Garden Route in the Western Cape, South Africa, about Fifteen km east of George and 450 km east of Cape Town’s location. Its pristine sand beach with a total length of eight km plus the warm waters of the Indian Ocean make this fine holiday destination, amongst other things, a place to go for aquatic sports enthusiasts.
The N2 divides Wilderness in two – while some residences and lodges have been constructed in a dune region nearby the beach, the business district and the remaining town can be found alongside freeway and lagoon. The lagoon’s mountainous land section features abundant flora in its woodland areas, like ericas, ferns, milkwood trees, orchids and proteas. The freshwater of mountain rivers and the Indian Ocean’s seawater also generates a suitable home for marine creatures, including dolphins.
The 2 612 hectare National Wilderness Park is located east of the town and extends 28 kilometres alongside the sea. All 230 animal species happen to be registered here, including 79 of South Africa’s 95 waterfowl species. Book self-catering accommodation in Wilderness with Garden Route Stays!
